Abutilon is a large genus of flowering plants in the mallow family (Malvaceae), commonly known as Flowering Maple, Chinese Lantern, or Indian Mallow. The genus comprises over 200 species of herbs, shrubs, and small trees native to tropical and warm temperate regions across the globe. They are highly prized as ornamental plants, often grown as houseplants, container plants, or garden shrubs, particularly the popular hybrid group Abutilon hybridum.

The defining feature of Abutilon is its showy, pendant, bell- or cup-shaped flowers, which come in a vibrant range of colors including yellow, orange, red, pink, and white. Its common name, Flowering Maple, comes from its large, palmate (maple-leaf shaped), often lobed or serrated foliage, though it is not related to true maple trees (Acer spp.). Abutilon species generally prefer full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining, fertile soil. They thrive in warm temperatures and do not tolerate frost, making them tender perennials that are often treated as annuals or moved indoors for the winter in cooler climates. Some species, like Abutilon indicum, are also used in traditional medicine for various ailments.
